- Q: How to Service and Repair the Rear 60 Percent Seat Backrest Seat Cover on 2009 Ford Fusion?A: The replacement process for the rear 60 percent seat backrest cover begins with removing the 60 percent rear seat backrest component. Move on to releasing the trim cover J-strip at its lower section. The trim cover inversion permits access to armrest-to-backrest bolts so you can remove the four armrest-to-backrest bolts in combination with the support plate. Adjust the armrest to a horizontal position for proper fitting before tightening the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). When reinstalling the armrest assembly users should detach it from the backrest before aligning the armrest bracket locator tab to the backrest frame. The armrest assembly requires removal by releasing four pin-type retainers which detach the armrest trim cover panel from the backrest while replacement with new pin-type retainers takes place during assembly. You need to take out the pin-type retainer which is found inside the backrest trim cover armrest pocket. Both sides of the backrest require removal of the four lower trim cover J-clips along with their respective staples. Take extra care when removing the backrest trim cover from hook-and-loop strip to prevent the destruction of the backrest foam pad. Move upwards on the backrest while keeping the backrest trim cover inverted to divide hook-and-loop strips from each other while also extracting all hog rings. The last step is to remove the backrest trim cover before performing installation by following the reverse order of removal.
