2009 Ford Taurus X Battery Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the battery cables on 2009 Ford Taurus X?
A: Service and repair of battery cables requires beginning the process with battery tray removal. Begin by removing the bolt that allows movement of the battery cable body ground terminal to a different position before tightening it to 12 Nm (106 lb-in) during reinstalling. The next step requires you to remove the nut to position the Battery Junction Box (BJB) cable terminal in place before installation by tightening it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Start by removing the starter solenoid terminal cover then the starter solenoid terminal nut to put the battery cable starter solenoid terminal in proper position before tightening it to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). Position the battery cable starter motor terminal aside after removing the starter B+ nut and tighten it to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) during reinstallation. The battery cable engine ground terminal must be set aside after removing the engine bolt with a torque of 12 Nm (106 lb-in) when reinstalling. Both battery cables get detached from the intake manifold top as well as three battery cable locators that need to be removed from the LH valve cover. The worker must first position the generator protective cover to the side before removing the nut to access the generator B+ terminal. The same worker should handle the terminal with care and tighten the connection to 17 Nm (150 lb-in) before reassembly. The battery cables should be taken out and all installation steps should be performed in reverse order.
