2009 Ford Taurus X Seat Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the power-fold seat motor on 2009 Ford Taurus X?
A: The first step to fix the power-fold seat motor requires removing the broken second row seat. Hog ring detachment along with a separation of cushion trim from foam pads is unnecessary; remove only trim and foam pad from the seat. The cushion heater mat becomes accessible after disconnecting its electrical connector along with its pin retainer. Move on to detach the recliner handle along with its screw before taking off the recliner trim cover from the outboard side by unscrewing the installation and freeing the retaining tabs until the trim pieces separate while directing the pull strap through the trim cover hole. Unplug the power-fold seat motor cable which connects to the recliner seat and disconnect the clamp to remove the cable jacket which enables you to rotate the cable end guide to release it. First detach the power-fold seat motor using both screws before you loosen the recliner-to-cushion frame bolts to extract the motor along the cable route. Install the motor with tightening force at 50 Nm (37 lb-ft). To finish the installation proceed with the opposite steps of removal.
