How to Address Issues with the Rear Seat Armrest in a 2009 Lincoln MKZ?

A proper service of the rear seat armrest starts with taking out the 60 percent section of the rear seat backrest. The J-strip at the bottom part releases as you turn the backrest trim cover slightly upside-down to view the armrest-to-backrest bolts. The four bolts attached to the armrest and backrest need removal together with the support plate. Adjust the armrest position horizontally when reassembly while tightening bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Set the backrest assembly with the armrest and bracket aside while maintaining an engagement between the armrest bracket locator tab and the backrest frame. After unlocking the four pin-type retainers you can take off the armrest trim cover panel from the backrest to remove the armrest assembly. Missing retainers need the remaining part pushed into the backrest frame then a fresh pin-type retainer should be installed for reinstallation. The reverse steps needed for installation should follow the removal process.
