2009 Lincoln Navigator Thermostat Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the thermostat and thermostat housing on 2009 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Draining the engine cooling system must be the first step when servicing the thermostat and its housing. Service of the thermostat housing requires disconnecting the upper radiator hose located at the thermostat housing. First remove the two housing bolts then take out the thermostat while discarding the O-ring seal. The mating surfaces require cleaning with metal surface prep and silicone gasket remover in accordance with the product instructions. When replacing the parts use a spring-oriented thermostat installed against the down position along with a fresh O-ring seal for assembly. Initially secure the thermostat housing with an equal hand torque before final tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The installation must end with reversing the removal process.
