Allowing any rotation of crankshaft or camshaft machinery when timing chains are off for cylinder head installation could result in valve along with piston destruction. Start the camshaft replacement by removing roller followers and the timing chain. First disconnect the bolt and camshaft sprocket and spacer before extracting its 13 camshaft bearing cap bolts and the camshaft bearing cap. The camshaft should be removed from its position in the cylinder head as the last step. Clean engine oil should be used for lubricating both the camshaft journals and bearing cap before installing the camshaft onto the cylinder head. The camshaft bearing caps should be installed loosely before torqueing them according to sequence to reach 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Place the camshaft sprocket followed by tightening its bolt at two stages where the torque reaches 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) first before moving to an additional 90 degrees (one-fourth turn).
