You should never touch the shock absorber center nut because it will let spring tension free which creates a dangerous injury hazard. The procedure requires dispatching all three shock absorber upper mount nuts. The brake hose requires protection so ensure the caliper and anchor plate assembly does not hang. Instead detach its two bolts while using mechanic's wire to support the assembly. Next, remove the brake disc. The hex-holding feature will stop the stud from rotating as technicians discard the stabilizer bar upper link nut followed by the stabilizer bar link lower nut and stabilizer bar link. The process of removing the upper ball joint nut starts with detaching the wheel speed sensor wiring harness retainer from the wheel knuckle while using the hex-holding feature to prevent the nut from spinning away. The technician should remove the lowed shock absorber nut and the flag bolt before extracting the shock absorber with its spring assembly. When installing the shock absorber and spring assembly avoid the immediate tightening of hardware components; install the new lower nut first along with flag bolt while leaving them loose and then install and torque to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) the new upper ball joint nut. Install the stabilizer bar link then put on the new nuts. Tighten the lower nut to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft) while the upper nut gets tightened to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft). Install the brake disc followed by placing the brake caliper along with its anchor plate and tighten both anchor plate bolts to 160 Nm (118 lb-ft). Replace the wheel and tire before you apply torque to the three shock absorber upper mount nuts at 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). After the vehicle has weight on the wheel assemblies tighten the shock absorber lower nut to 235 Nm (173 lb-ft).
