How to service and repair the steering angle sensor on 2009 Mercury Mountaineer?

To maintain the steering angle sensor, disassemble 3 lower steering column cover bolts and lower cover, then upper cover. Unscrew the steering wheel rotation sensor, disconnect it and remove. Installation of the new sensor is by reversing the processes of removal.
