How to service and repair the brake backing plate on Ford E-150?

Starting the brake backing plate service and repair process requires removing the rear brake shoes together with linings first. The service begins by removing either the axle shaft independent of other parts or both the axle shaft and rear hub. The cable retainer needs compression until the parking brake rear cable and conduit can separate from the brake backing plate. The brake line fitting should be disconnected first while removing the two bolts that secure the rear wheel cylinder before extraction of the rear wheel cylinder itself. If you disconnect first the backing plate from the axle flange using its attached four nuts and bolts you can then freely remove the brake backing plate. To install the components follow the opposite order of removal while performing brake system bleeding as a final step.
