Service and repair procedures of the E-150 brake caliper start with disc brake caliper removal and brake fluid drainage. Place the caliper into a vise and extract the piston by using low air pressure at the fluid port after inserting a wood block opposite the caliper bridge. The wood block and piston need to be removed before discarding both piston seals and dust boots. Honoring the caliper cylinder bores is not necessary since nozzle pistons are unavailable for honed calipers but damaged bores require replacement with a new front disc brake caliper. When building the system, use newly acquired piston seals and dust boots to maintain vehicle integrity while applying High Performance DOT 3 Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid C6AZ-19542-AB or a DOT 3 equivalent that meets Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A for lubricating all components including the piston dust boot, piston seal, caliper piston, and caliper cylinder bore. Always exercise caution when installing the caliper piston seal together with dust boot to prevent potential damage. The caliper housing requires a slow and uniform press of the piston until it reaches the caliper bore to prevent damages. Complete the procedure by reinstalling the disc brake caliper.
