The brake light switch servicing requires disconnecting the ground battery cable as a first step. Begin by disconnecting the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch electrical connector and after that remove the BPP switch by pulling out the self-locking pin and remove the brake master cylinder push rod spacer. Put your attention on removing the BPP switch from the brake master cylinder push rod followed by its bushing and spacer in succession. Installation requires reverse execution of the removal steps. The vehicle needs to be driven approximately 16 km (10 mi) beyond initial reconnect to adapt to its new adaptive strategy because of abnormal drive symptoms after battery system interruption.
