Ford E-150 Steering Angle Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the steering angle sensor on Ford E-150?
A: The first step for service and repair of the steering angle sensor includes removing the steering column opening cover. The first step begins with removing two bolts from the data link harness retainer and then continuing with taking out the instrument panel left-hand knee bolster which requires four bolts to be removed. The installation of these bolts should reach 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque specifications. Disconnect the electrical connector of the steering wheel rotation sensor before loosening its retaining bolts with a torque of 1 Nm (9 lb-in) and install it with the same torque setting. The removal process ends with installing the steering wheel rotation sensor using the reverse order. You must perform a calibrating process on the ABS module through scan tool protocols.
