Start by discarding 4 exhaust Y-pipe flange nuts and moving onto the 4 nuts holding the engine support insulator to its support insulator bracket. Raise the engine 1 inch (25.4 mm) at the rear right of the cylinder block using the appropriate jack and afterward remove the engine support insulator-to-crossmember bracket nut and its accompanying 2 nuts and bracket. The servicing engine support insulator requires removal by discarding the 3 cylinder block bolts on 5.4L engines or the bolt and nut on 4.6L engines. The left-hand (LH) engine support insulator removal procedure requires raising the engine 25.4 mm (1 in) at the LH rear cylinder block section before removing the engine support insulator-to-crossmember bracket along with its 3 nuts and the engine support insulator-to-cylinder block bolts or bolts and nut. Install the engine support insulator by first cleaning its mating surface against the cylinder block before placing it into position with respective bolts for the 5.4 L engine (3 bolts) or 4.6 L engine (2 bolts and nut) while tightening them to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft). Position the bracket before installing two nuts with 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) torque and install the engine support insulator bracket-to-crossmember nut with 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) torque after which the engine can be lowered. Start by mounting the bracket for the LH engine support insulator and fasten its 3 nuts to 90 Nm torque (66 lb-ft) before letting the engine lower down. Before finishing, install new 4 exhaust Y-pipe flange nuts with torque setting at 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) then proceed with installing the 4 engine support insulator-to-support insulator bracket nuts to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). Reinstall the starter motor and align the cooling fan shroud before installing its two bolts while securing them at 6 Nm (53 lb-in).

  Start the engine support insulator service process by positioning the vehicle in neutral mode and applied it to a hoist. First detach the starter before removing bolts holding the cooling fan shroud in position to the cooling fan on the right-hand (RH) engine support insulator. First detach the nuts securing the 4 exhaust Y-pipe flange and the 4 nuts connecting the engine support insulator to the engine support bracket. Rise the engine 25.4 mm (1 inch) above the RH rear of the cylinder block using a suitable jack while you delete the engine support insulator-to-crossmember bracket nut and both of the nuts that secure the engine support insulator-to-crossmember bracket. Placing a jack under the engine allows you to lift it by 25.4 mm (1 inch) from the RH rear of the cylinder block. Then, proceed with removing three bolts that connect the engine support insulator to the cylinder block. The engine support insulator must be taken out after that. Lift the engine 25.4 mm (1 inch) using a jack placed on the LH rear of the cylinder block and then take out the 3 engine support insulator-to-crossmember bracket and engine support insulator-to-cylinder block bolts to remove the LH engine support insulator. Install the engine support insulator only after cleaning the cylinder block mating surface and then position the insulator before torquing bolts to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs). When installing the RH engine support insulator begin with the crossmember bracket followed by tightening the 2 nuts to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs) before torquing the crossmember bracket nut to the same specifications. The vehicle needs to be supported by the engine jack to move the engine downward. On the LH side of the engine support insulator position the crossmember bracket before tightening all 3 nuts to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs) and proceed to lower the engine. Reattach the 4 exhaust Y-pipe flange nuts by torquing them to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs) while installing the engine support insulator-to-crossmember bracket nuts to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs). Installation of the starter motor should follow service on the RH engine support insulator. Position the cooling fan shroud into place and fasten it with the 2 bolts during installation while tightening them to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs).
