Working on the fuel rail requires safety precautions since open flames or smoking should be avoided near fuel components which contain flammable mixtures. The risk of personal injury becomes reduced when you first relieve pressure from the fuel system before unhooking any fuel tubes or components. The process should start with disconnecting the battery ground cable followed by enabling fuel system pressure release. The upper intake manifold must be removed first while the fuel tube-to-fuel rail quick connect coupling and the six
Fuel Injector electrical connectors need detachment. Start by removing the four fuel rail bolts before extracting the fuel rail which includes all the injectors installed together. You need special fuel-resistant O-ring seals to replace the twelve fuel injector O-ring seals so discard the old ones along with the replacement of new seals. The upper and lower O-ring seals possess different shapes which keep them from being interchanged. You should apply engine oil on the new O-ring seals before fitting the six fuel injectors with their corresponding clips inside the fuel rail. Apply new fuel rail and injector components together by torquing the four bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). End the procedure by reinstalling the upper intake manifold followed by battery ground cable reattachment.
