How to service the starter motor on Ford Edge?

Service of the starter motor begins with disconnecting the battery ground cable because it stops electrical hazards. The service procedure begins with ACL elimination and the separation of the transmission shift cable that connects to the transmission manual control lever including its adjustment lock. The rotation slide snap on the transmission shift cable needs to be detached before setting the cable aside so you can remove the nut from the transmission manual control lever and install it to 18 Nm (159 lb-in) torque. First remove the starter motor terminal cover followed by the starter motor solenoid battery cable nut and tighten it to 12 Nm (106 lb-in) when reattaching it. The process of disassembly requires first unfastening the starter motor solenoid wire nut while setting its torque to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) during reinstallation. After disconnecting the wiring harness retainer from the starter motor stud bolt the wiring harness should be placed to the side. The starter motor bolt and stud bolt need removal before removing the starter unit while reinstallation requires tightness of 27 Nm (20 lb-ft). Finish the installation by following the opposite steps of removal.
