How to service the intake air duct on Ford Escape?

Start service of the intake air duct by disconnecting both the crankcase vent tube and its connecting outlet pipe to the air cleaner. The service process requires removal of both the vacuum tube and the crankcase vent tube if they are attached to the air cleaner outlet pipe. Service of the intake air duct begins by removing both the MAF sensor electrical connector and wiring harness retainer. Release the two pipe clamps before taking out the air cleaner outlet pipe. Secure installation requires both connections to attain 4 Nm (35 lb-in) torque while inspecting the air cleaner outlet pipe for a proper seal to block any unmetered air from reaching the engine. Finish the installation by performing the reverse order of the removal steps.
