Ford Escape Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and replace the rear brake disc on Ford Escape?
A: A driver should begin by taking off the wheel and tire before starting the process of replacing the rear brake disc. Before working disconnect the battery and remove fuse 24 (50A) and 31 (50A) from the battery junction box to stop the accumulator from charging and preventing brake system pressurization. Maintain control of the brake pad assembly and caliper when they suspend from the brake hose in order to prevent any damage. You should disconnect the two brake caliper guide pin bolts before positioning the caliper and brake pad assembly to one side supported by mechanic's wire. The caliper bolts must get torqued to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft) during reinstallation. Next, remove the brake disc. The process requires removal of the adjustment hole access plug to retract the Parking Brake Shoes by rotating the adjuster when the brake disc binds with the parking brake shoes. Perform the opposite sequence of removal steps to finish the installation before checking the parking brake shoe adjustment.
