The differential housing cover needs installation within a 15-minute period after silicone application or fresh silicone must be reapplied. Previous application of the silicone needs one hour for adequate curing before adding lubrication. Securely fasten the differential housing cover after its installation. During service refills the specified lubricant must be added up to the level that falls beneath the lowest point of the filler hole. Customer should add 236.5 ml (8 ounces) of Ford Additive Friction Modifier C8AZ-1913546-A or an equivalent that satisfies Ford specification EST-M2C118-A prior to filling the rear axle with the specified lubricant before installing the filler plug. Finally, lower the vehicle.
