The first step to service or repair the automatic transmission shift lever of a column shift starts with removing the lower steering column shroud through screw removal. The first step requires extractor removal of the upper steering column shroud. The electrical connector along with harness must be detached from their retaining clips. Someone should remove the automatic transmission shift lever bolt while securing it with 18 Nm (13 lb-ft) torque before installation. Following the bolt removal you must take off the automatic transmission shift lever. The installation ends by following the reverse steps of removal.
