Before starting to service and repair the 9.75-inch ring gear differential cover users should disable all power from the air suspension system by switching off the air suspension switch located in the right-hand kick panel to stop air springs from inflating or deflating accidentally. Support the vehicle at height and set aside the rear stabilizer bar and rear axle tracking bar simultaneously. The drained lubricant from the rear axle housing needs to be transferred into a clean container while removing 12 differential housing cover bolts and the differential housing cover. Both the rear axle housing and differential housing cover surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned from oil with proper covering of the rear axle interior to block contamination before installation. The differential housing cover needs to receive a continuous bead of Clear Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent material per Ford specification E1SB-M4G392-A. The differential housing cover needs to be installed during the first 15 minutes after silicone application because late installation requires reapplication of new sealant. Follow a one-hour time period before adding lubricant since proper silicone sealant curing needs this duration. The differential housing cover installation requires bolt tightening followed by lubricant addition which should reach a level below the filler hole base. Traction-lok axle lubrication demands the addition of 118 ml (4 ounces) of Ford Additive Friction Modifier C8AZ-19B546-A or an equivalent to Ford specification EST-M2C118-A before pouring the lubricant into the rear axle. Finally, lower the vehicle.
