Ford Explorer Engine Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the Engine Control Module on Ford Explorer?
A: Starting Engine Control Module service requires tool connection to the vehicle to obtain vehicle identification together with configuration data by using the correct worldwide diagnostic system hook-up procedure. Break the battery ground connection and loosen the PCM electrical connectors for disconnecting. Tighten every connector to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) before reinstallation. The installation of the PCM bracket requires nuts to be fastened at 8 Nm torque setting (71 lb-in). The first step involves removing the passenger door scuff plate before positioning the front door Weather Strip aside to take off the A-pillar lower trim panel. During the replacement process analyze the glove compartment screws first for removal and afterward remove the PCM bracket bolt which includes the PCM and bracket combination and reinstall it with bolt torque set to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). To complete the installation process detach the PCM from its bracket then perform the reverse steps of removal.
