Ford Explorer Power Steering Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Reservoir on Ford Explorer?
A: A proper suction device will extract power steering fluid from the reservoir before starting service work. Secure the power steering reservoir bolt at 9 Nm (80 lb-in) when reattaching it during installation. First detach the power steering pump supply hose by loosening the clamp then remove the hose and proceed to disconnect the power steering fluid cooler hose after releasing its clamp. When installing the vehicle reverse the steps used during removal to put the power steering reservoir back in place. You should complete the power steering system filling by adding the required fluid type. During this procedure one must exercise caution to avoid introducing foreign substances because such contamination can damage power steering elements.
