The servicing begins with removing the brake shoe retracting spring and the brake shoe adjusting screw spring and also takes out the brake adjuster screw and the rear brake shoe hold-down springs. The installer should remove the rear brake shoes with linings and inboard brake shoe retracting spring before inspecting all parts for wear and damage which will require replacement if needed.
