How to Service and Repair the Steering Shaft on Ford Explorer Sport?

The steps for repairing or servicing the steering column shaft require locking the steering column or securing its lower end to prevent shaft rotation that might hurt the air bag sliding contact. Dispose both the upper intermediate shaft to steering column shaft bolt and the upper intermediate shaft to lower steering column shaft bolt because these components should not be reused during installation, you must install new bolts. Use a new pinch bolt to tighten the lower shaft after removing its bolt connecting it to the midpoint of the lower intermediate shaft and then collapsing the shaft for disposal. The upper intermediate shaft should be extracted from inside the vehicle after removing the bolt that attaches this shaft to the steering column assembly and discarding this bolt. Reinstatement of the suspension system follows the opposite steps used during removal.
