How to Service and Repair the Steering Shaft on Ford Explorer Sport Trac?

The repair and servicing of the steering column shaft requires the column to be securely locked or the lower end tightly fastened to stop rotation that may harm the air bag sliding contact. Properly throw away the upper intermediate shaft to steering column shaft bolt and the upper intermediate shaft to lower steering column shaft bolt when you remove them from the assembly because both should receive new ones upon replacement. Start by removing the bolt connecting the upper intermediate shaft to the lower intermediate shaft at the midpoint connection before collapsing and getting rid of the original bolt for installation using a new pinch bolt. Take out the upper intermediate shaft from inside your vehicle by first unscrewing its bolt from both the steering column assembly and the vehicle space while discarding the original bolt. The installation process should be done by following the backward order of removal operations.
