Service of the tailgate latch starts with the removal of the tailgate trim panel by pulling out screws and pin-type retainers. The service starts with taking out the tailgate latch bolts together with the tailgate latch actuating rod guide. You can start by releasing the actuating rod after which you should remove the tailgate latch. To install the components follow the reverse order of removal procedures. Spray either Multi-Purpose Grease Spray F5AZ-19G209-AA or an alternative product which meets Ford specification ESR-M1C159-A onto the latches as needed.
