How to Service and Repair the Backing Plate on Ford F-150?

Start backing plate service and repair operations by removing the brake shoes from the rear of the vehicle along with the linings. If the vehicle has a rear hub the axle shaft and hub need removal before moving on. A cable retainer compression tool allows for disconnecting the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the backing plate of the brake. Follow this step by step process to detach the rear wheel cylinder through brake line fitting removal followed by removing its two bolts. The next task involves removing the rear wheel cylinder. Detach the brake backing plate by taking out its four nuts and bolts that connect the backing plate to the axle flange. To perform installation the opposite procedure should be followed and brake bleeding must be done afterward.
