Ford F-150 Cruise Control Servo Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the cruise control servo on Ford F-150?
    A:
The cruise control servo maintenance begins with removing the speed control cable cap from the speed control servo by first depressing the locking arm while counterclockwise rotating the cap. The next step involves disconnecting the speed control cable through a process of depressing the spring retainer and sliding the core wire end out of the speed control servo pulley. Disconnect the speed control servo electrical connector through a process of depressing the connector tab after which you can take off the connector. Use a screwdriver to loosen all bolts on the speed control servo and bracket dominant element but keep the rubber grommets inside the speed control servo bracket. After finishing speed control servo bracket removal use a screwdriver for the screw uninstallation procedure. Start by installing the speed control servo bracket which requires proper rubber grommet placement for reducing noise and suppressing vibrations. You must install the speed control servo with the speed control cable slug into the speed control servo pulley slot while applying negligible force to the speed control servo spring during the installation. The speed control actuator cable cap tabs should slot into housing openings after the compressed spring deploys because proper rubber seal engagement on the speed control actuator cable cap prevents high idle operation. To complete the installation connect the electrical connector after you rotate the speed control actuator cable cap to engage the locking arm.
