Ford F-150 Heritage Seat Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How should you service and repair the power seat switch while ensuring safety and compliance with air bag systems on Ford F-150 Heritage?
    A:
Safety glasses must be worn before servicing or repairing the power seat switch in vehicles that have an Air Bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) because accidental air bag deployment can lead to injuries. The hands need a soap and water wash after air bag deployment to remove sodium hydroxide residue from the skin. The power supply depletion process includes disconnecting the battery ground cable while waiting for at least one minute coupled with disconnecting all auxiliary batteries and power supplies. All SRS deactivation must be performed according to provided warnings and instructions. The first step involves removing the seat adjuster control knobs followed by their covers alongside the screws from underneath the seat side trim panel. To begin dissembling the seat move the recliner handle screw and handle before pulling off the lumbar knob and removing the three screws on the side trim panel. Proceed by removing the two screws which maintain the lumbar adjuster control to the seat track riser and position the control toward the inside until it clears. Release the rear retainer of the side shield then detach the side trim cover before disconnecting the seat control switch electrical connector and extracting the power seat adjuster control from the trim panel after unscrewing the two retaining screws. After placing the seat control switch in position a user needs to fasten it with the two screws then reconnect the electrical connector followed by a return of the side shield rear retainer. Begin by installing the two screws that will support the lumbar adjuster control unit and after that attach the seat adjuster control knobs followed by their covers and finally the screws of the seat side trim panel. The SRS must be restarted through proper procedures after performing all checks while removing all diagnostic tools used in the restraint system to prevent injuries as well as compliance violations before vehicle usage. Active restraint operations must be verified at the conclusion of this procedure.
