Ford F-350 Super Duty ABS Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the rear ABS sensor on Ford F-350 Super Duty?
A: The first step to service the rear ABS sensor is disconnecting the ground cable from the battery followed by vehicle elevation. Prepare the rear ABS sensor area by cleaning away all dust and particles before performing removal to stop fluid pollution. First disconnect the electrical connector before removing the bolt to extract the rear ABS sensor. A preventive measure during installation should be to protect the rear axle housing from entering any dirt. Check the mounting surface of the axle then evaluate both the pole piece magnetization of the rear ABS sensor and the O-ring condition before replacing any damaged parts. The O-ring needs a light application of SAE 75W-140 High Performance Rear Axle Lubricant F1TZ-19580-B or an equivalent that matches Ford specification WSL-M2C192-A before placing the rear ABS sensor in position without touching the plastic connector. Then install the sensor bolt before reconnecting the electrical connector. Driving the vehicle will result in abnormal drive symptoms before the adaptive strategy relearns so drive for at least 16 km (10 miles) to complete the process.
