Ford F-350 Super Duty Voltage Regulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the voltage regulator for gasoline-engine generators on Ford F-350 Super Duty?
A: The first step for servicing or repairing the gasoline-engine generator voltage regulator requires removal of the generator itself. Unscrew the four voltage regulator screws to remove it together with the terminal holder and generator brush from the device. You need to disconnect the generator brush and terminal holder from the voltage regulator through the removal of its screw cap followed by unscrewing the two screws which stabilize the generator brush and terminal holder. Set the brush and terminal holder on the voltage regulator next then fasten it with both generator brush and terminal holder screws for installation. Test Terminal A requires the attachment of the screw cap to stop any possible short circuit involving the battery positive charge. Press the brushes before inserting a wire for support when installing the generator brush and terminal holder and the voltage regulator. Position the components first and install the voltage regulator screws before removing the wire. Finally, reinstall the generator.
