- Q: How to service the second-row, 40 percent power-fold seat cushion on Ford Flex?A:Begin 40 percent power-fold seat cushion service by removing the seat from the vehicle while placing the backrest in folded-flat position before latching the inboard foot for proper pivoting. The service starts with removing the seat backrest followed by removing the seat backrest recliner. If you wish to service the second-row, 40 percent power-fold seat cushion you must first delete the inner pivot cover followed by removing the safety belt buckle bolt and safety belt buckle and ensuring a proper torque of 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) when reinstalling them. You can separate the strut and cushion trim cover hook-and-loop strips through clip release before detaching the inner and outer J-clips located at the back of the trim cover. Remove the cushion trim cover retainers through the openings under the seat from both seat track sides of the cushion frame while extracting them between the seat track edges and frame surfaces. Remove the inversion of the cushion trim cover to extract it from the cushion foam pad by detaching all hog rings. The installation of new cushion foam pads with heater mats always requires simultaneous connection of both items after disconnecting and releasing the heater mat electrical connector along with the pin-type retainer keeping track of the wiring harness routing specifications. To remove the power-fold Seat Motor begin by unscrewing its two motor screws before disconnecting the electrical connector and detaching the release cable from the cushion frame while recording the release cable route. The process requires removal of six seat track-to-cushion frame nuts which need to be tightened to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) torque when reinstalling.
