The first step to remove the rear spoiler requires discarding the two bolts securing it. The liftgate needs to be closed during tape cutting so an assistant might help with this task. A suitable plastic scraper should be used to cut the horizontal tape strip by gently pushing down on the rear side of the spoiler. After cutting the horizontal tape strip the rear half of the spoiler becomes loose. From here the left-hand segment of the spoiler must be pulled backward until the 2 vertical tape strips release while removing the complete rear spoiler. Remove the insert nut first then use a suitable strip-off wheel to cleanse all tape strips from the liftgate. Low temperature anti-corrosion coating should be applied to visible metal surfaces before installation whenever possible along with restoring any paint damage obtained during the removal process. The liftgate mounting surfaces need isopropyl alcohol cleaning before inserting the new insert nut. Follow the installation of 3 tape strips onto the rear spoiler and place the 3 rear spoiler seals correctly. Maintain all three tape strips on the horizontal position before removing only the two vertical strips. Insert the rear spoiler under controlled light force while maintaining a downward trajectory of the horizontal tape strip backing. Begin by placing your hand at the middle of the rear spoiler before pressing to set the horizontal tape strip in place followed by bolting and securing the two attachments to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
