Only transmission fluid designated for a particular system should be utilized because switching between Mercon, Mercon V, Mercon SP and Motorcraft Premium Automatic Transmission Fluid or Motorcraft Continuously Variable Chain Type Transmission Fluid may result in transmission damage. The cooling tubes require a proper fluid and torque converter cleaner for backflushing while ensuring strong cleaning flow; weak or contaminated flow requires replacement of the system filter. The cleaner needs three rubber hoses to connect with the transaxle ends on the steel transaxle cooler tube by using the cleaner tank pressure tube to initiate the steel transaxle cooler return tube and using a tank return hose with its outlet placed in the fluid tank reservoir and a rubber hose stretched between both ends of transmission fluid cooler tubes.
