The service of ignition coil-on-plug begins with removing the upper intake manifold. Removing the ignition coil bolts starts with disconnecting all ignition coil electrical connectors before you remove the bolts at which point you should set torque to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). You should apply slight rotational force to the ignition coils before removal to facilitate their extraction. Reinstall the coils while applying a thin coat of Silicone Brake Caliper Grease XG-3-A (or Ford ESE-M1C171-A equivalent) inside the boot area before positioning the units according to the removal steps in reverse order.
