Safety glasses are mandatory for servicing or repairing the power seat switch in vehicles equipped with air bag supplemental restraint systems to prevent accidental deployment injuries. Service work on the SRS should commence only after powering it down especially if the seat includes components of SRS technology. The RCM fuse removal triggers the air bag warning lamp to activate when the
Ignition Switch turns ON although no fault exists. This behavior is expected. A complete check of the SRS functionality must be performed before sending the vehicle back to customers. The first step requires seating yourself to reach all bolts attaching the seat to the floor pan while accessing the safety belt anchor followed by SRS deactivation before removing the front seat. Take out the handle and withdraw the recline mechanism from all manual reclining seats. Next proceed to remove both the seat control switch knob and power recline knob when they are fitted before extracting the rear screw and sliding out on the side to separate the side shield. Detach the pin-type retainer from the seat control switch wire harness before disconnecting the switch from the side shield. Start by putting back the front seat after following the uninstallation process then activate the SRS system.
