Ford Freestyle Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the thermostat on Ford Freestyle?
A: The thermostat service requires removal of the Thermostat Housing followed by the three housing bolts before separating upper and lower parts of the housing. The removal of the thermostat requires attention while simultaneously discarding its O-ring seal component. Weld the new thermostat bridge exactly to the upper marks of the thermostat housing to stop coolant inlet blockage by the spring retainer. The new upper housing O-ring needs to get lubrication from engine coolant before installation into its place. To complete the procedure reinstall the lower thermostat housing by adding three bolts and torque them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) followed by installing the thermostat housing. Finish the cooling system work by filling it and performing a bleeding procedure.
