Ford Freestyle Thermostat Housing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the thermostat housing on Ford Freestyle?
A: Draining the cooling system should be the first step for servicing the thermostat housing. The next step involves removing the air cleaner assembly before disconnecting the degas bottle-to-thermostat housing hose which should be placed aside. Carefully separate the hose connecting the throttle body to the thermostat housing and the hose linking the upper radiator to the housing before disconnecting the bypass tube-to-thermostat housing hose as well as the heater hose from the housing and the lower radiator-to-thermostat housing hose then put all parts aside. The two thermostat housing bolts should be removed and the O-ring seal needs disposing. For the new thermostat housing installation, apply 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) tightening torque to the bolts while you should place a new O-ring with clean engine coolant lubricant before inserting it into the thermostat housing. To finish the procedure you should fill and bleed the cooling system.
