How to Service and Repair Automatic Transmission Shift Levers on Ford Fusion?

The automatic transmission shifter repair and servicing process begins with emptying the center console. Start by detaching the automatic transmission shift lever cable end from the automatic transmission shift lever and you can then take out the automatic transmission shift lever cable from the automatic transmission shift lever housing by releasing its tab. First remove the four nuts before you detach the electrical connector to extract the automatic transmission shift lever. Put the automatic transmission shift lever into position then fasten it using four nuts while tightening them to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the electrical connector while placing the automatic transmission shift lever cable in the automatic transmission shift lever housing to join its end to the automatic transmission shift lever. After finishing installation of the center console you can adjust the shift cable if needed.
