Ford Fusion Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the rear wheel bearing and wheel hub on Ford Fusion?
A: The wheel bearing and Wheel Hub service process requires an NEUTRAL setting vehicle which should sit on a hoist. When servicing the wheel speed sensor bolt, users should disconnect it then place the sensor to a safe place while ensuring proper torque of 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) for final reassembly. Loosen the Parking Brake Cable from the Brake Caliper through removal of the clip. Avoid suspension of the caliper and anchor plate assembly from the brake hose by removing anchor plate bolts and supporting the assembly with mechanic's wire. Install the anchor plate assembly with torque to 70 Nm (52 ft-lbs). Prior to disc replacement you need to remove the two Brake Disc bolts followed by removing the brake disc with a correct tightening torque of 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) for installation. Reset the grease cap then discard the wheel hub nut before you extract the wheel hub and bearing assembly. Install the new hub nut with 255 Nm (189 ft. lbs.) torque values when finished. In conclusion to the installation proceed by performing the removal steps in the reverse order. The installation requires the use of new components bearing the same part number following the recommended torque targets to achieve correct suspension part retention and successful performance.
