The first step of steering wheel service and repair involves positioning the wheel in a straight-forward direction while turning off the
Ignition Switch. Take out the
Air Bag module that belongs to the driver. You should avoid using screws or pry bars to remove steering wheel spoke finish panels to avoid damage because pulling gently at the wheel spoke base will work better. Service of the steering wheel spoke finish panels can be carried out independently from the rest of the wheel making it possible to perform installation work without removing the wheel itself. The procedure demands you to remove the steering wheel spoke finish panel(s) before tossing away the steering wheel bolt. After installing the new bolt users need to apply torque to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). Disconnect the horn and steering wheel switches from the
Clock Spring electrical connector before removing the steering wheel while properly directing all Clock Spring connectors through it. You should tape the Clock Spring center rotor to the outer housing before taking it out to stop the rotor from rotating. You should perform the reverse steps of installation after completing removal.
