When servicing the coolant reservoir, it is important to be safe by not opening pressure relief cap when engine is hot. Take out the speed control servo, unconnect hoses and empty the coolant. Then, remove the reservoir. Reinstatement, reverse the procedure used to remove it by following the cooling system filling and bleeding procedure.

How to Service the Coolant Reservoir for 3.0L and 4.0L Engines on Ford Ranger?

Removal of the air cleaner box, washer motor connector and overflow hose, draining of the coolant, and the securing nuts and bolts of the tank will be required to service the coolant expansion tank on 3.0L and 4.0L engines. The new tank can be installed, by reversing the steps of removal.
