How to service and repair the instrument panel dimmer switch on Ford Ranger?

The first step to service and repair the instrument panel dimmer switch is to remove the audio unit and center instrument panel finish panel using 2 screws and disconnecting electrical connectors. First remove the 2 bolts that allow positioning of the hood latch release handle to the side and then take out 2 screws to detach the instrument panel steering column cover. First reinstall the lower instrument panel reinforcement with five bolts until they reach 11 Nm torque specification (97 lb-in) before reassembly. First remove the Instrument Cluster (IC) finish panel by taking out 5 screws and disconnecting the electrical connectors after positioning the column-mounted transmission range selector lever to the lowest position only if applicable. The instrument panel dimmer switch becomes removable through removing two screws before finishing the installation by undoing the previous steps.
