The headlamp bulb is very sensitive, and must be held by the base only to prevent breaking. This may interfere with performance, so it should not be removed until you are ready to replace it. Do not use a bulb without headlamps on. Marking the replacement To replace, remove the assembly, turn the retainer counterclockwise, and then do the same when installing.

How to replace the headlight bulb on Ford Ranger?

To change the headlamp bulb, take the bulb off the bulb housing, but when lifting, grip the bulb by the base. Never touch the glass and never take out the bulb unless you are ready to install the new one. Take the electrical connector off, turn the retainer counterclockwise to take out the bulb, then put the new bulb in and reconnect.
