How to Check and Maintain the PCV Valve on a Ford Ranger?

Service of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve starts with removing the left-hand front wheel and tire followed by complete removal of the left side inner fender well splash shield after unscrewing all securing screws and pushpin and bolts. Before removing the splash shield it is necessary to break the connection between the electrical connector locators. The next step requires unclipping the coolant bypass hose from its routing position. Remove the PCV valve caps from their two tabs before extracting the PCV valve out of the crankcase vent oil separator with proper hose vacuum detachment. The reverse sequence of removal steps needs to be executed for valid installation.
