    Q: How to service and repair a windshield on Ford Ranger?
    A: Service and repair of the windshield begins with the removal of windshield Wiper Pivot arms and the A-pillar trim panel along with sun visors and clips and interior rear view mirror. The front section of the headliner needs to be lowered while suitable supporting material should be installed underneath. Use a soft brush together with vacuum to clean the pinch weld space free from foreign material and dirt. Use protective gloves together with eye protection when performing work to avoid injuries. Protecting the paint coating and primer at the pinch weld from scratches will stop rust from occurring. Before employing the Deluxe Windshield Removal Tool you must apply water to the existing urethane adhesive thus making removal possible while using the flat blade against the glass to protect the urethane bead on the pinch weld. Begin by working upwards from the middle of the windshield then proceed towards the corners and finish with The Pumper for body-glass separation. Finish the urethane adhesive cutting process with the Deluxe Windshield Removal Tool before taking out the windshield glass and setting it down on stable equipment. Install the windshield glass by fitting it to the original urethane adhesive bead in the opening and positioning it correctly before adjusting stop blocks. Put tape markers or a non-staining pencil grease marks on the designated alignment points. The glass should be set with its interior facing upward onto a firm work surface after a dry installation. The pinch weld needs repair of its corroded sections because it mounts into the structure and scratching this area must be prevented. Use a shop towel or oil-free compressed air to clean the pinch weld area after shearing the urethane adhesive so it creates a 1-2 mm bottom coating. Discard all urethane adhesive material from the windshield glass before applying a minimal amount that will work as a bonding layer. Apply glass cleaner to clean all surfaces inside the glass panel. The windshield glass primer installation requires following the manufacturer directions then waiting for at least six minutes before use. Use the urethane adhesive applicator tip according to specifications and operate it with a high-ratio electric or battery-operated caulk gun. Sustain the continuous bead of urethane adhesive on the trimmed pinch weld pinch weld pinch weld area before placing the windshield glass within ten minutes of application time. When inserting the glass into position always keep the vehicle windows open to protect the adhesive bond from air pressure changes. The windshield glass placement should precede aligning the marks while the urethane adhesive needs one hour minimum cure time before leak tests begin. After adjusting the headliner in place install the interior rear view mirror together with sun visors and clips as well as A-pillar trim panel and windshield wiper pivot arms.
