Ford Ranger Wiper Pivot Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Maintain the Wiper Pivot on a Ford Ranger?
A: Service of the wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft starts with positioning the wipers straight up before removing the battery ground cable. The service requires removal of right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) windshield wiper pivot arms which can be achieved through arm pivot while pulling up and retainer tab while pulling out. Afterwards position the powertrain control module (PCM) connector alongside the harness by loosening its bolt before removing the nut and stud and disconnectingeadh connector. The first step is to remove the RH access cover by unscrewing and separating its parts before placing the power distribution box to the side followed by removing the LH access cover in the identical fashion. Through the RH access opening operator can remove the wiper motor clip on the RH mounting arm and pivot shaft before unfastening the RH windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft from their corresponding LH connection point while moving them away from the motor. The installation requires you to securely tighten the RH and LH pivot nuts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). You should extract the RH and LH mounting arm and pivot shafts by using the RH access opening. The windshield wiper adapter and connecting arm clip should go through full seat installation before the adapter mounts to the wiper motor crank pin and clips connect to it while both parts fit properly into the RH wiper mounting arm and its pivot shaft. Finish the installation by following the inverse order of removal and torque all required components to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) according to the specifications.
