Ford Taurus X Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace the Brake Disc on Ford Taurus X?
A: Vehicle wheel removal with tire uninstallation is the first step toward rotor/disc replacement. Positioning the Brake Caliper without hanging it from the brake hose will preserve its integrity. The brake caliper anchor plate needs to have its installation bolts removed before setting it aside. When attaching the new anchor plate secure the bolts to 110 Nm (81 lb-ft). The removal of the current brake disc screw requires immediate discarding with the new screw installation followed by a torque measurement set to 21 Nm (15 lb-ft). The installation process for the brake disc follows the reverse of removal steps through the use of new brake caliper anchor plate bolts. To test that brakes function properly apply them multiple times during this process.
