How to service and repair the steering wheel on Ford Taurus X?

Steering wheel service and repair procedures begin by positioning the wheel straight ahead before uninstalling the ignition key. After removing the driver air bag module discard the steering wheel bolt while following the instruction to replace it and tighten it to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft). The keeper removes the steering wheel before disconnecting steering wheel switches from the Clock Spring while routing the two driver air bag module electrical connectors and harness into the steering wheel assembly. The successful installation requires taping the center rotor to the outer housing of the Clock Spring in order to stop its rotation. The installation concludes after performing the procedure in reverse order to reinstall the driver air bag module.
