How to arm and disarm the air bag system on Ford Thunderbird?

The first step to engage or disable the air bag system involves turning the ignition switch from OFF to ON when all SRS components are attached or when using restraint system diagnostic tools. The air bag indicator needs to be checked because it will stay lit for six continuous seconds and then shut off. Under SRS fault conditions the air bag indicator either stalls or stays permanently lit or flashes and the RCM needs around 30 seconds after ignition ON for SRS testing completion before initiating any of the above indicator responses. A five-beep chime pattern will sound when the air bag indicator is impossible to operate while there is an existing SRS fault. Repair of the air bag indicator becomes necessary before continuing with further diagnosis.
